The Queen of Hearts, the largest boat in our fleet, is a 50-foot sportfishing vessel licensed for up to 39 passengers, although salmon trolling trips are limited to 23 anglers and rockfishing trips to 35 anglers. It is also the longest running vessel currently operating out of Half Moon Bay, owned and operated by Capt. Bob and Sherry Ingles from the harbor since 1990. Without a doubt, no one currently operating has run more trips taking more passengers from Half Moon Bay than Bob and Sherry on the Queen of Hearts. Capt. Bob has worked on charterboats since the 1960s, more than 45 years, and has been a captain in the Bay Area for over 30 of those years.
The Queen of Hearts is known for specializing in shallow water light tackle fishing along the San Mateo coastline of California, as well as salmon fishing, rockfishing both deep and shallow, albacore fishing and whale watching. She is fast and comfortable and staffed with an experienced professional crew. A microwave and Keurig coffeemaker is available onboard. The Riptide is owned and operated by Capt. William Smith. "Capt. Smitty" has also worked on charterboats in the Bay Area for over 25 years, has been a licensed captain and involved in Half Moon Bay fishing for over 20 years. He offers fishing trips for salmon, rockfish (local or Farallon Islands) and tuna, whale watching and eco-tours, and burials at sea.
Capt. Smitty's Riptide labels his operation as a "small charter specialist," providing personalized attention to individuals and small groups up to a maximum of 20 passengers. His enthusiasm for fishing makes your trip memorable. The F/V Riptide is a 40’ fiberglass hull, equipped with a turbo diesel, and has a unique steering station on the back deck that allows Capt. Smitty a unique interaction with his customers.
The Que Sera Sera is a 38’ Bertram sportfisher, a boat known for an exceptionally soft ride at speed in rough water. Powered by two Cummins diesels producing 710 horsepower, the Que Sera Sera is capable of getting you to the Half Moon Bay tuna, salmon or rockfishing grounds quickly. All rods, reels and bait are included in the price of fishing trips. Capt. Dale Walters, likewise, has been a licensed captain for more than 25 years, and has owned and operated the Que Sera Sera from Half Moon Bay since 2003.
The Que Sera Sera provides the ultimate in all-inclusive, fishing luxury. The interior has a yacht finish with 3 leather recliners in the salon. The refrigerator is kept well stocked with soda and water as well as light snacks that are available at no additional cost. A bunk room is also available for the trips to and from the albacore grounds. Seating is available on the flying bridge which is great for watching whales, porpoises, sea otters, sunfish and bird life out of Half Moon Bay. Comfortable deck chairs are available in the cockpit The Que Sera Sera also offers dinner cruises and burials at sea, as well as other personalized trips to suit each individual's needs.
The New Captain Pete has rejoined our fleet for the 2018 fishing season. The NCP is a 53-foot sportfishing vessel licensed for up to 38 passengers, although salmon trolling trips are limited to 23 anglers and rockfishing trips to 35 anglers. It has been owned and operated by Capt. Dennis Baxter from the harbor since 1988. Capt. Dennis has worked on charterboats since the 1982 and received his captain license in 1985.
Capt. Dennis' primary target is salmon, but he also offers trips for just about whatever bites along the San Mateo County coastline, as well as whale watching, nature trips, and ash scattering.
